PM shows keen interest in defence tech during DSA and Natsec Asia walkabout

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim showed keen interest in a range of advanced defence technologies during a tour of the exhibition floor after officiating the Defence Services Asia (DSA) and National Security (Natsec) Asia 2026 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) here on Monday (April 20).

Accompanied by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, the Prime Minister took time to visit several exhibition booths by participating countries in the 19th edition of the event.

He was seen stopping at various booths to listen to briefings on the displayed products, including electronic systems, simulators, unmanned assets and other cutting-edge defence technologies.

He also interacted casually with exhibitors and personnel at the venue.

In addition to observing international technologies, Anwar visited the pavilion featuring local companies, which showcased the capabilities of Malaysia’s defence industry, reflecting the sector’s growing strength.

Themed "Empowering Capabilities and Resilience Through Technology", DSA and Natsec Asia 2026 brings together 1,456 exhibiting companies from 63 countries, making it the largest edition to date.

This year also sees the participation of 368 Malaysian companies under a new segment, the Malaysian Defence Industry Council pavilion, showcasing their respective products and capabilities.

The event, which runs until Thursday (April 23), also marks the debut participation of several countries, including Croatia, Finland, Hungary, Japan and Russia.
