THE casting of the late Dharma Harun Al-Rashid (pic) in the film Felai Fx: Apa Mau Takut happened purely by chance.
According to Berita Harian, the producer of the film, Richard Ung, revealed that Dharma had only come to accompany his son, Muhammad Al Syafiq Mohamad Azman, 35, for an audition.

Ung suggested to Zamri that Dharma be given a role befitting his credibility and experience.
“I immediately suggested to the director that he be cast for a role of a syndicate leader or the head of a ‘rader’ club. He portrayed the character of Rudi very well,” he said when met at a thanksgiving and prayer ceremony held in conjunction with the screening of Felai Fx and a tahlil for Dharma at Masjid Al Mustaqim recently.
Dharma passed away at his residence in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur, on Nov 25 last year. He reportedly suffered from gastritis, asthma, as well as swelling affecting his heart, lungs and thyroid.
Syafiq said he and his father did not have any scenes together.
He said the film was completed in 2024, when his father was still healthy and able to play musical instruments.
“On set, I was amazed during my father’s first scene. He was like a character from The Godfather. I really loved that. I didn’t expect him to portray a gangster role so well,” Syafiq said.
Felai Fx: Apa Mau Takut, which is set to be released in cinemas nationwide on April 30, marks the final onscreen appearance of the late Dharma, who was well known for the film Adik Manja.
