Tracking potential, celebrating women’s dedication

KUALA LUMPUR: The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM), through the Women’s Development department (JPW), remains committed to strengthening women's leadership through the implementation of the Perantis Programme, which has proven successful in producing more high-calibre female leaders.

This commitment is demonstrated through the organisation of the "Inspiration for Women: Tracking Potential, Appreciating Dedication" programme held here to celebrate female figures who have shown outstanding commitment, dedication and leadership throughout the implementation of the 2025 Perantis programme.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said that the Perantis programme is a strategic ministry initiative aimed at empowering women's leadership through mentorship, shared experiences and comprehensive capacity building.

"We want to see more women not only excelling in their respective fields but also having the courage to step into leadership and decision-making roles.

“The Perantis programme serves as a vital platform for building confidence, capability and support networks among women," she said.

The Perantis programme was launched in 2024, in line with the Prime Minister's announcement during the International Women's Day celebration on March 8, last year.

The success of Perantis in 2024 was highly encouraging. A total of 1,247 participants received guidance from 25 female figures across 10 key areas, including leadership, politics, economics, social, technology, legal, security, wellbeing, education and health.

In 2025, the programme was expanded to involve 100 female figures and 4,129 participants with an allocation of RM5mil.

For 2026, RM4mil has been allocated with a target of involving 80 female figures and 4,000 participants, further strengthening efforts to produce quality female leaders across various sectors.

These efforts are in line with the National Women's Policy and the Women’s Development Action Plan 2025–2030, which emphasise the development of a pipeline of female leaders and the enhancement of leadership skills.

The Perantis programme also supports national aspirations under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13) and regional commitments through Asean cooperation in empowering inclusive female participation in leadership, the economy, and social development.

The theme "Tracking Potential, Appreciating Dedication" is highly appropriate to the spirit of Perantis, where each figure and participant possesses unique potential.

Through this programme, that potential has been polished based on learning experiences, mentorship and exposure to various leadership perspectives.

The commitment shown throughout this programme proves that women are capable of shouldering leadership responsibilities with excellence and can serve as a source of inspiration to many more women.

Also in attendance were Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Lim Hui Ying, KPWKM deputy secretary-general (management) Datin Safida Zalma Mohd Piah, KPWKM deputy secretary-general (strategic) Mohd Daud Mohd Arif, Women’s Development department director-general Hanani Sapit and senior officers from the ministry's departments and agencies.
