KULAI: Pakatan Harapan is set to unveil its manifesto for the Johor state election on Monday (June 29), with the coalition promising a realistic and practical set of pledges focused on economic prosperity, political stability and equitable development across the state.

Pakatan secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who is also PKR’s joint election director, said the manifesto had been finalised by the coalition’s manifesto committee and was awaiting final endorsement from the top leadership during a meeting on Monday (June 29) morning.

“The manifesto committee has completed its work and the document is now subject to final approval by the Pakatan Harapan chairman and the coalition’s top leadership,” he said in a press conference held here after the nomination process for the Johor state election here on Saturday (June 27).

Saifuddin said the coalition would hold a special press conference to launch the manifesto after obtaining the leadership’s approval, adding that this year’s document had been drafted with a more practical and realistic approach than in previous elections.

He added the manifesto would contain proposals that were tangible, achievable and easy for the public to understand, covering areas such as economic stability and prosperity, people’s welfare, political stability, good governance, increasing state revenue and ensuring fair distribution of resources to the rakyat.

Saifuddin also said that Pakatan would continue to champion performance-based politics over identity politics, while placing strong emphasis on narrowing the development gap between Johor Baru and other districts through more balanced and needs-based development.

He also said the manifesto would highlight the advantages of Johor being administered by a coalition aligned with the Federal Government, arguing that such cooperation would enable more development projects and benefits to be channelled to the state’s residents.
