Squash court bribe case: Statutory body CEO remanded for five days


KUALA LUMPUR: The chief executive officer of a statutory body suspected of involvement in a RM1mil bribe to secure a squash court contract has been remanded for five days until Saturday (April 18).

According to a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) source, Magistrate Ezrene Zakaria issued the remand order at the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court after the commission submitted an application on Tuesday (April 14) morning.

The CEO, in his 40s, was arrested at about 7.20pm at a shopping mall in Bukit Jalil here on Monday (April 13) moments after he received RM100,000 from a construction contractor believed to be payment for helping approve the contractor’s claim to build a squash court costing RM7mil.

The suspect is also believed to have received a previous upfront payment of RM500,000 before Aidilfitri.- Bernama
