AKPS records 231 cases involving seizures worth over RM36mil as of March 2026

PORT KLANG: The Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) recorded a total of 231 cases involving seizures worth RM36,243,214.11 between January and March this year.

Port Klang AKPS commander Deputy Comm Datuk Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the cases were detected through inspections and enforcement actions involving several agencies.

This includes the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services (Maqis), the Health Ministry and the Customs Department.

“A total of 231 containers were involved in cases. Customs cases are mostly related to under-declaration of taxes and similar issues,” he said at a press conference at the Customs Department North Port here on Tuesday (April 14).

He said by monthly breakdown, January recorded 68 cases worth RM8,833,637.20, followed by February with 88 cases (RM18,966,194.96) and March with 75 cases (RM8,443,745.75).

“Maqis accounted for 80 cases valued at RM18,893,601.58, the Health Ministry recorded 54 cases (RM11,243,214.11), while Customs logged 97 cases worth RM5,953,063.47,” he said.

DCP Nik Ezanee said AKPS would not compare trends of increase or decrease in cases as the agency is still newly established.

“We will continue inspections to ensure that goods entering and leaving the country are properly monitored,” he said.

He added that enforcement at the port will continue to be strengthened in line with growing trade activities to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
