PAS and Bersatu should contest elections solo following machinery dispute, says PAS Info Chief

PETALING JAYA: PAS and Bersatu should contest solo in upcoming elections following disputes over the strength of party machinery within Perikatan, says Ahmad Fadhli Shaari.

The PAS information chief said if stating the fact that Bersatu lacks machinery is labelled as “deafness,” then little hope remains for harmonious cooperation moving forward.

"In my personal view, the best course is for all parties to go their separate ways. We remain friends, but not on the election stage," he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (May 31).

"You may find political partners who are more clearly perceptive, more observant, and more politically attuned," he added.

Fadhli was responding to a viral video of a ceramah by Datuk Seri Azmin Ali in Melaka last night (May 30). In the video, the Bersatu secretary-general pushed back against claims that his party lacked grassroots machinery, urging critics to “open their eyes and ears”.

Fadhli also raised concerns about Bersatu’s actions in Perlis and Negri Sembilan, saying they cast doubt on the party’s ability to exercise sound judgment independently in forming a federal government after the 16th General Election (GE16).

"This is especially so given recent developments involving Bersatu in Perlis and Negri Sembilan, which raise concerns over whether, after GE16, there may be a push for unilateral decision-making in forming the federal government," he said.

The public spat comes right after Perikatan announced late Saturday (May 30) that it will contest all 28 state seats in the upcoming Melaka state election.

Perikatan deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had stated that the seat distribution would be finalised through negotiations with component parties to ensure the best strategy to secure victory.
