Suspect involved in vandalism of shrine-like structure nabbed, says Melaka police chief


MELAKA: The suspect involved in the recent vandalism of a shrine-like structure along Jalan Jeti Anjung Batu–Pantai Siring in Serkam has been arrested, says Melaka Police Chief Deputy Comm Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar (pic).

He said the 38-year-old man, who has a history of psychiatric treatment, was detained at about 2pm on Thursday (April 9) and is currently receiving treatment at Hospital Melaka.

"The suspect has admitted to committing the act during police questioning,” he said.

DCP Dzulkhairi added that the structure, which was built on government land, was demolished by the Jasin Municipal Council on Friday (April 10).

He also urged the public to refrain from making unfounded speculations on the incident as the matter was considered resolved with the arrest of the suspect.
