Cops: Bowling centre worker died of cardiac arrest


IPOH: The case of a 53-year-old man found dead in a bowling centre at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjung Malim has been classified as sudden death.

Muallim OCPD Supt Khalid Mohamad said post-mortem results confirmed the cause of death as sudden cardiac arrest.

He said an emergency call was received at 1.57am on Tuesday (April 7).

He said officers were immediately dispatched to the scene, where Health Ministry personnel were already providing assistance.

"The victim, who worked as a cleaner at the facility, was found unconscious in a utility room within the bowling centre.

"Medical personnel performed CPR for approximately 15 minutes before pronouncing him dead at 2.23am.

"Initial investigations at the scene revealed no criminal elements or suspicious injuries on the victim’s body," he said in a statement.

Supt Khalid said the man's body was sent to Hospital Slim River for a post-mortem examination, which determined the cause of death.

"The case has been classified as sudden death, with no foul play involved," he added.

An earlier Bernama report identified the victim as Mohd Radzi Ariffin.
