Four schools in Beaufort and Sipitang affected by floods.

KOTA KINABALU: A total of 811 pupils from four schools have been affected by floods in several parts of Sabah, including Beaufort and Sipitang.

State Education Department director Datuk Raisin Saidin said the Beaufort and Sipitang Education offices were identified as impacted by the flooding.

In Beaufort, SM St Paul with 568 pupils, SK Lago with 91 pupils, and SK Batu 60 with 95 pupils were affected.

In Sipitang, one school under the district office was affected - SJK (C) Sin Boon, involving 57 pupils, Raisin said in a statement on Monday (April 6).

However, Raisin confirmed that no temporary evacuation centres (PPS) were operating at the affected school premises.

“At present, the affected schools will implement home-based teaching and learning,” he said, adding that the department would continue to monitor the situation and take appropriate measures to safeguard the welfare and safety of all pupils.

He urged parents to stay updated on the latest developments and comply with instructions issued by the authorities from time to time.
