Car in flames after five-vehicle crash in Perak


IPOH: A road accident involving five vehicles resulted in a car catching fire in front of a petrol station at Changkat Cermin in Ayer Tawar on Monday (April 6).

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the incident occurred at about 4.55pm.

He said firefighters from the Ayer Tawar Fire and Rescue Station, located about 11km away, arrived at the scene at 5.04pm and brought the blaze under control by 5.53pm before fully extinguishing it at 6pm.

“A total of five vehicles were involved in the crash, two Proton Wira cars, a Proton Inspira, a Proton X50, and a Chery Tiggo SUV. 

“The Chery Tiggo was about 60% damaged by fire,” he said in a statement.

He said one female occupant from the Proton X50 sustained minor injuries to her hands and face and was taken to hospital by members of the public before firefighters arrived. The remaining occupants escaped without injuries.
