IPOH: An unidentified person was found burned to death inside a blazing car following a collision with a trailer truck in Segari, Pantai Remis, early Thursday morning (June 11).
The Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations), Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, said they received a distress call regarding the incident at 4.36am. The incident occurred at Jalan Batu 9, Kampung Semangat near Manjung. Firefighters from the Pantai Remis Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene.
He said upon arriving at 4.52am, firefighters found a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) engulfed in flames. About 90% of the vehicles have already been destroyed.
“After the fire was extinguished, rescuers discovered a charred body inside the vehicle.
“The victim’s gender could not be determined due to the extent of the burns.
“Initial investigations found that the MPV had collided with a trailer before it caught fire,” he said on Thursday.
He added that the trailer driver, a 60-year-old man, suffered minor injuries. “He received initial treatment from Health Ministry medical personnel at the scene before being taken to the hospital by ambulance,” he added.
He said firefighters used rescue cutting equipment to extricate the victim’s remains from the wreckage and handed the body over to the police for further investigation.
The blaze was brought under control at 5.30am, and the operation ended at 6.48am.
Firefighters also cleared the roadway of scattered vehicle debris and oil spills resulting from the crash.
He said a total of six firefighters and a Light Fire Rescue Tender (LFRT) from the Pantai Remis Fire and Rescue Station were involved in the operation.
