Consumer Foundation calls for cautious spending in uncertain economy

KOTA KINABALU: The National Consumer Foundation Malaysia has urged consumers to take the current global energy situation seriously and to be more careful with their spending.

“In such uncertain times, consumers are advised to adopt a more cautious financial approach by prioritising essential spending, avoiding unnecessary expenses and strengthening personal savings,” said its Sabah chairman, David Chan, on Sunday (April 5)

He said financial discipline is important during periods of economic uncertainty and that people should be ready to adjust their lifestyles and manage their resources carefully.

He also mentioned that the foundation values Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and the Federal Government's efforts. Nevertheless, the high cost of living remains a significant issue.

He urged authorities to enhance targeted assistance, strengthen price monitoring, and ensure that essential goods remain affordable and accessible to everyone.
