Environment Dept deputy DG to face further corruption charge

PETALING JAYA: The deputy director-general of the Environment Department is scheduled to face another charge at the Shah Alam Sessions Court on Monday (April 6). The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission said it had obtained consent to prosecute the woman, with proceedings set to begin at 8.30am.

On Friday (April 3), Norhazni Mat Sari was charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court with six counts of receiving RM21,000 from a scheduled waste management company. However, she pleaded not guilty to all charges before Judge Azura Alwi.

According to the charge sheet, Norhazni allegedly received the money without consideration from E-Concern (Borneo) Sdn Bhd. The funds were believed to have been transferred online into her child’s bank account at a branch in Bukit Bintang on April 18, 2022.

The case is being prosecuted under Section 165 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine or both upon conviction.
