A FOOTBALL team made up of pupils from three rural Tamil schools in Melaka managed to finish second in an Under-12 tournament, Malaysia Nanban reported.
The state Indian Football Association U12 football tournament for Tamil schools, which was held at SJK(T) Merlimau, saw more than 20 teams taking part.
SJK(T) Pekan Tebong, SJK(T) Ladang Tebong and SJK(T) Kemuning (H/D), all located in Tebong, are schools with low pupil numbers.
However, the joint team defeated four-time consecutive champion SJK(T) Melaka (Kubu) and drew with eventual winners SJK(T) Durian Tunggal to finish runner-up.
SJK(T) Kemuning’s Seenutharan Maduraiveeran was the tournament’s top scorer.
SJK(T) Ladang Tebong teacher Yogesh Chandrakumar and SJK(T) Kemuning teacher Darshan Kumar Kanna were instrumental in preparing the team.
