A 17-YEAR-OLD student has won hearts for his devotion to caring for his mother, who was paralysed after an accident.
“Mama raised my sister and me on her own after separating from our father.
“She never complained despite her condition and sacrificed so much for us. I will never abandon or neglect mama,” Form Five student Muhammad Amzar Hakim Nuurul Azmi told Harian Metro.
Despite living in a hostel, Amzar returns home to Melaka every fortnight or once a month to help with household chores and accompany his mother to hospital appointments.
He hopes to pursue Arabic studies and eventually become a religious teacher or join the military.
His love for the family became public knowledge after his mother Marziawati Mahfar, 47, shared TikTok videos showing him helping out and occasionally carrying her.
“I am grateful he never considers looking after me a burden,” she said.
At times, she said that she felt sad her son spends most of his time at home instead of with his friends.
“I never taught him to do housework,” she said.
“He simply sees what needs doing and helps willingly.”
