KING of Mandopop Jay Chou recently bought two new pieces of artwork by Austrian artist Egon Schiele but did not disclose their prices, China Press reported.
One of the paintings, called Frauenbildnis mit Blauem und Grunem Halstuch (Portrait of a Woman with Blue and Green Scarf), was last sold for US$1.92mil (RM7.8mil) earlier this year.
It is yet to be known how much the 47-year-old singer paid for it.
Chou’s love for art began during his childhood and was deeply influenced by his mother Yeh Hui-mei, an art teacher.
He had previously invited Korean performer G-Dragon to his home to see a Picasso artwork which was part of his collection.
Apart from sharing the two new paintings in his collection, Chou also wrote about how new frames could give old paintings a brand new visual effect.
“Over a century of brushstrokes, paired with a new wooden frame, brings the colours to life all over again.
“That‘s why I love changing the frames on so many pieces in my collection,” he wrote on Instagram.
> Hong Kong superstar Chow Yun-fat sparked concerns among his fans after he was seen running in the middle of a road with vehicles zooming past him closely, China Press reported.
Chow, who is an avid runner, is often seen hiking and running on the island. He is known to be friendly and will often interact with fans.
Recently, the 71-year-old actor was seen jogging near the Central and Western District promenade. He looked to be enjoying himself.
However, fans pointed out that it is dangerous for runners to share a lane with fast-moving vehicles.
“Running in the middle of the road is not safe, is it?” one netizen wrote.
Others, however, pointed out that Hong Kongers do not have many alternatives.
