Mimi Fly to represent M’sia at Asean-Korea fest
KUALA LUMPUR: Popular singer Mimi Fly is set to represent Malaysia at the Asean-Korea Music Festival (Round 2026), which will take place on April 18 and 19 at the Araneta Coliseum in the Philippines.
The festival aims to promote cultural exchange between South Korea and Asean countries through music performances, choreography and creative collaborations among regional artistes.
Mimi, whose real name is Shamimi Amalina Norhisham, 39, described the opportunity to represent Malaysia as a great honour and is determined to deliver her best performance on the international stage.
“I’m very proud to represent Malaysia at this festival. It’s an opportunity to showcase my talent on a regional platform and bring the country’s name to the global stage.
“I’m currently busy fine-tuning and preparing for the performance.
“I just want to give it my very best,” she told reporters after a press conference to announce the ‘For You: Nourul’ concert here yesterday, Bernama reported.
Besides Mimi, the festival will feature selected Asean artistes including Pamungkas (Indonesia), Syafiq Abdillah (Brunei), TJ Monterde (Philippines) and 10CM (South Korea).
Known for her hit songs Angkat and Serumpun, Mimi will perform several tracks in a 25-minute set, supported by 16 dancers from Malaysia and the Philippines.
Amid her busy schedule, Mimi will also appear as a guest artiste at the ‘For You: Nourul’ concert, scheduled to take place at Zepp Kuala Lumpur on May 30.
The former One Nation Emcees member described her involvement in the concert as an honour, further strengthening both her professional ties and friendship with singer Nourul Depp.
“Nourul reached out to me via direct message on Instagram saying she was planning a concert, and she asked for my full support,” she said, adding that Nourul is among the senior artistes who have consistently supported and encouraged her.
Mimi also shared that she conducts dance classes and works as a yoga instructor to maintain her physical and mental well-being while giving back to the community.
“I enjoy teaching dance and yoga because not only do they keep me fit; they also inspire others to take care of themselves. These activities complement my singing career,” she said.
