Popular singer Mimi Fly is set to represent Malaysia at the ASEAN-Korea Music Festival 2026, which will take place on April 18 and 19 at the Araneta Coliseum in the Philippines.

The festival, known as Round 2026, aims to promote cultural exchange between South Korea and ASEAN countries through music performances, choreography and creative collaborations among regional artistes.

Mimi, whose real name is Shamimi Amalina Norhisham, 39, described the opportunity to represent Malaysia as a great honour and is determined to deliver her best performance to elevate the country’s name on the international stage.

"I am very proud to represent Malaysia at this festival, which is an opportunity to showcase our talent on a regional stage and bring the country’s name to the international level.

"I am currently busy refining and preparing myself for the performance … I just want to do my best,” she told reporters after the press conference for the Konsert For You: Nourul here yesterday.

In addition to Mimi, the festival will feature selected ASEAN artistes including Pamungkas (Indonesia), Syafiq Abdulah (Brunei), TJ Monterde (Philippines) and 10CM (South Korea).

Known for her popular songs Angkat and Serumpun, Mimi will perform several tracks in a 25-minute set, supported by 16 dancers from Malaysia and the Philippines.

Amid her busy schedule, Mimi will also appear as a guest artiste at the Konsert For You: Nourul, scheduled to take place at Zepp Kuala Lumpur on May 30.

The former member of One Nation Emcees described the invitation as a guest performer at the concert as an honour, further strengthening her professional relationship and friendship with Nourul.

"Kak Nourul sent me a DM (direct message on Instagram). She said she was planning a concert and asked for my full support. Initially, the dates overlapped … so I’m happy the schedule was changed and we’re finally able to collaborate,” she said, adding that Nourul is among the senior artistes who have consistently supported her work and shared positive messages.

Mimi also shared that she conducts dance classes and works as a yoga instructor as a way to maintain her physical and mental well-being, while sharing her passion with the community.

"I enjoy teaching dance and yoga because these activities not only help me stay fit, but also inspire others to take care of themselves. They complement my artistic career,” she said. – Bernama
