PKR leaves probe of alleged RM9.5mil payment to authorities

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR will leave it to the authorities to investigate allegations that one of its Members of Parliament received money.

Its information chief, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, said the party would also give its full cooperation to the enforcement agencies if an investigation is carried out.

He was commenting on allegations by businessman Victor Chin, who reportedly admitted to handing over RM9.5mil to a PKR MP.

However, Fahmi said he had no further information on the matter.

“Certainly not me, I’m still wearing a Casio watch,” he quipped when met at the 219th Police Day celebration at Dewan Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Hashim, Police Training Centre (Pulapol) here on Wednesday (March 25).

He added that the party leadership has yet to meet on the matter and so far has only been informed of media reports quoting the statement and allegations.

Meanwhile, Fahmi said the Prime Minister has made it clear that any wrongdoing would not be protected by any party.

“Especially if the allegations involve party members or Members of Parliament, including those from the government,” he said.

He added that any investigation could be referred to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), depending on the complainant.
