ISKANDAR PUTERI: More than 235,000 recipients will benefit from the appeal phase of the Bantuan Kasih Johor (BKJ) initiative worth RM47.13mil, says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
The Johor Mentri Besar said the state government has allocated the amount under phase four of BKJ to ensure the assistance reaches eligible recipients.
"Since BKJ’s fourth phase was implemented, the state has received feedback and appeals from Johoreans," he said in a Facebook post on Friday (Aug 28).
"We listened, examined and reviewed the appeals so that those who genuinely meet the criteria could be given due consideration.
"Under the appeal phase, 235,545 recipients from 21 categories such as senior citizens, non-working housewives, newlyweds, hawkers and small traders, people with disabilities, orphans, low-income families, community leaders and volunteers, have been approved to receive the aid."
He said the state government has always held to the principle that when Johor's revenue increases, the benefits should be returned to the people.
"That is why we continue to improve BKJ and provide an avenue for appeals so that those who are eligible are not left out.
"We may not be able to resolve everything at once, but as long we have the means, we will continue our efforts and ensure the state’s prosperity is shared by all," he added.
