JASIN: Police have busted a drug trafficking ring following seizures of drugs worth RM6.8mil in separate raids in Melaka and Johor from Wednesday (Oct 14) and Friday (Oct 15).
Jasin OCPD Supt Lee Robert said a man, 27, was arrested in the first raid at the Lipat Kajang Toll Plaza here at about 11.30am after he was spotted driving in a suspicious manner.
"The inspection of the Toyota Vios driven by the suspect revealed 27.5kg of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) and 3.70g of ketamine.
"Interrogating the suspect led to the raid in Johor with the cooperation of the state narcotics investigation team,” he said at a media conference at the Jasin district police headquarters here on Thursday.
Lee said the second raid, at about 4.50am Thursday, was at a residential unit in Johor Bahru, and seized 17.8kg of MDMA, ketamine (29g), Erimin 5 pills (21.60g) and estacy pills (32.2g).
"Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect worked as a swimming coach and is suspected of being involved in processing, packaging and trafficking the drugs since this year,” he said.
Supt Lee added that the suspect tested positive for ketamine.
The suspect has been remanded for seven days from Thursday to facilitate investigations under Section 39B and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — Bernama
