Two killed, one hurt in car-motorbike collision in Perak

IPOH: Two men were killed while another was injured in a road accident involving a car and a motorcycle at Kuala Kurau on early Tuesday (March 24) morning.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the incident occurred at Batu 7 near Kampung Seri Makmur at 1.24am.

“Firefighters from the Kuala Kurau station arrived at the scene at 1.32am, about 7km away from the station.

“Upon arrival, one male victim, a 26-year-old car passenger, was found trapped underneath the vehicle, who was pronounced dead by medics after the extrication.

“Another male victim, the 21-year-old motorcyclist, had been thrown from the motorcycle and was also pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel,” he said in a statement today.

He said the car driver, a man in his 20s, sustained injuries and had been extricated by members of the public before firefighters arrived.

“He was taken to the Parit Buntar hospital by the Civil Defence Force ambulance.

“Firefighters used specialised equipment, including an air lifting bag and a stretcher, to extricate the trapped victim, who was pronounced dead by medical personnel later,” he said

He added that both deceased victims were later handed over to the police for further action.

“A total of five firefighters were involved in the operation, along with personnel from the police, Health Ministry and Civil Defence Force.

“The operation ended at 2.50am,” he added.
