KL furniture, perfume shops destroyed in fire


KUALA LUMPUR: A furniture shop and perfume outlet housed in the same building in Bukit Bintang were almost completely destroyed in a fire on Sunday (March 22) night.

The city Fire and Rescue Department said it was informed of the fire at 10.58pm.

"Upon receiving the call, the Pudu fire station, as the responding station, with assistance from the Jalan Hang Tuah and Jalan Tun Razak stations, were deployed to the scene to carry out firefighting operations," it said in a statement on Monday (March 23).

The fire affected the ground and second floors of the three-storey building, it added.

"The extent of damage is estimated at 70%.

"No victims were injured or trapped in the incident.

"The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation," the statement read.
