SEREMBAN: Newly elected Repah assemblyman Koh Kim Swee has thanked voters for their support and pledged to repay their trust through continued service, a day after winning the state seat.
MCA's Koh wrested Repah from Pakatan Harapan, winning by a 444-vote majority in the Negri Sembilan election. He polled 9,779 votes against incumbent Veerapan Superamaniam, who took 9,335.
He said the win was not his alone, as it belonged to residents who wanted Repah to keep progressing and its multiracial community to live in harmony.
During the 14-day campaigning period, Koh said he had gone across Repah to meet people from all walks of life and hear their views on local development.
He said he had also felt their hopes for change and a better standard of living.
He thanked his campaign team and everyone who had backed him and shared their views.
“I want to thank every member of my machinery, every voter who gave their support, and every resident who was willing to share their views and suggestions with me,” he said.
“From today, I will do my best to serve all the people of Repah.”
Koh said the campaign was over and it was time for Repah to focus on development.
He said he would stay close to residents and take their concerns to the state assembly. He would also push for Repah to get the resources it needed.
He pledged to keep working on infrastructure, public welfare, jobs for young people, education and the wellbeing of senior citizens.
“Thank you for the trust and responsibility placed in me. Let us work together to make Repah and Tampin a better place in future,” he said.
In the recently concluded Negeri Sembilan state polls, Barisan won 18 seats and Perikatan Nasional won 7, giving the two coalitions 25 seats to form the state government.
