Ramanan channels nearly RM800,000 of MP salary to Sungai Buloh community

KUALA LUMPUR: Sungai Buloh MP Datuk Seri R. Ramanan has channelled nearly RM800,000 of his salary and allowances towards various community initiatives in his constituency since 2023.

The Human Resources Minister said the funds were aimed at assisting those in need and supporting community institutions, regardless of race or religion.

In a statement on Wednesday (March 18), it was noted that RM65,200 has been distributed this year alone.

This includes contributions to mosques, surau, temples and churches, as well as Friday alms (infaq Jumaat) and various programmes throughout the fasting month.

Additionally, 10,000 portions of bubur lambuk were distributed across the constituency, marking the fourth consecutive year of the initiative.

In conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, 3,350 food baskets were also handed out to B40 families to help ease their cost-of-living burden.

The statement also highlighted the implementation of the Ihya' Ramadan programme by the Sungai Buloh parliamentary service centre.

Organised in collaboration with government agencies, the programme involved an allocation of RM80,350.

"This is not about the amount, but about responsibility. What was promised must be translated into consistent action," Ramanan said.
