Man, 24, claims trial to reckless driving involving six other vehicles

SIBU: A 24-year-old man has been charged at the Magistrate's Court with reckless and dangerous driving that resulted in an accident involving six other vehicles on Tuesday (March 17).

Andy Leong Khai Sheng pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Oon Kork Chern after the charge was read out under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Base on the facts of the case, initial investigations revealed that the incident occurred when the car driven by the accused was travelling towards a traffic light intersection on Jalan Wong Soon Kai.

When approaching the intersection, the vehicle is believed to have failed to stop at the traffic light before crashing into six other vehicles in front of it.

The court granted bail of RM5,000 with two local sureties and set May 21 for case management.

DPP Keshava Rao Therma Raja prosecuted the case.
