IPOH: DAP elected representatives who fail to meet the party’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) risk being dropped from contesting in future general or state elections, warns Anthony Loke.
The DAP Secretary-General stated that underperforming lawmakers will likely be denied endorsement letters and removed from candidate lists.
Speaking at a press conference after opening the Perak DAP Convention on Sunday (Oct 18), Loke explained that candidate evaluations assess several key areas: community service, constituency work, involvement in party activities, organisational strengthening, and a consistent ground presence.
"If their performance is lacking, the likelihood of them being replaced is higher," Loke said. "If anyone is not actively working, we will ensure changes are made."
He added that the evaluation system serves to keep lawmakers accountable: "This creates continuous pressure on our elected representatives to perform their best and ensure the people's mandate is honoured."
Loke noted that while the KPI evaluation framework is implemented nationwide, Perak DAP under state chairman Nga Kor Ming has established a strict standard.
"The system in Perak has been implemented very effectively. As a result, our state representatives remain highly active on the ground, and any shortcomings are promptly addressed," he said.
