School goes on as usual, no PdPR for now, says ministry

KUALA LUMPUR: There will be no implementation of home-based teaching and learning (PdPR), with schooling set to continue as usual, says Fadhlina Sidek (pic).

The Education Minister said the ministry’s priority remains in ensuring that students’ learning continues without disruption.

“Our priority is the learning of our children. Decisions of this scale must be made carefully and are still under discussion.

“I hope with this explanation, the public can focus again on supporting our children’s learning,” she during a media engagement.

Fadhlina also addressed a question about possible work-from-home (WFH) orders to be made by the Cabinet.

“The decision on work from home will be made tomorrow (today) and we will follow the decision from the Cabinet.

“Work from home and PdPR are two different things,” she said.

In a statement, Education Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad said the ministry was concerned about speculation regarding the possible implementation of PdPR.

“The ministry would like to inform that for now, the school session is running as usual,” he said.

On March 13, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim instructed civil service leaders to examine proposals allowing civil servants to WFH.

The Chief Secretary to the government and the Public Service Department director-general have been tasked with examining the policy’s feasibility and coordination.
