No PdPR for now, school sessions to continue as usual, says Education Ministry


KUALA LUMPUR: There will be no implementation of home-based teaching and learning (PdPR), with schooling set to continue as usual, says Fadhlina Sidek.

The Education Minister said the ministry’s priority remains in ensuring that students’ learning continues without disruption.

“Our priority is the learning of our children. Decisions of this scale must be made carefully and are still under discussion.

“I hope with this explanation the public can focus again on supporting our children’s learning and also prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations,” she told reporters during a media engagement ceremony on Monday (March 16).

She also addressed a question about possible work-from-home (WFH) orders to be made by the Cabinet.

“The decision on work from home will be made tomorrow and we will follow the guidance from the Cabinet meeting.

“Work from home and PdPR are two different things,” she said.

On March 13, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim instructed top civil service leaders to examine proposals allowing civil servants to WFH.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the Prime Minister had tasked the Chief Secretary to the Government and the Public Service Department director-general with examining the policy's feasibility and coordination.

Fahmi said the findings of the review will be tabled and discussed before a decision is reached on Tuesday (March 17).
