Cops probing viral video of objects thrown on Segamat roads

SEGAMAT: Police have urged those with information about sharp objects allegedly being thrown onto several roads here to come forward, following a viral social media post.

Segamat OCPD Supt Mohd Jumazanzahir Chek Ismail said no police reports have been lodged so far despite the circulation of a video showing the act.

“We are still waiting for those with details or information on the incident to come forward and lodge reports,” he said, adding that police came across the video at about 11.45pm on Sunday (March 15).

He said investigations are ongoing to track down those responsible.

The video, uploaded on the Segamat Komuniti Facebook page, allegedly showed the incident occurring along Jalan Chaah–Labis, between the Maokil junction and the Chinese cemetery in Chaah.

Supt Mohd Jumazanzahir said a mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) monitoring the area along KM141.5 of Jalan Johor Baru–Seremban later found a vehicle with burst tyres.

He also reminded the public to verify the authenticity of information before sharing it on social media and urged any victims to come forward to assist in investigations.

Those with information can contact the Segamat Traffic Police Unit at 07-932 5811.
