Harith Iskander vents anger over long wait at NRD branch

PETALING JAYA: Renowned comedian and actor Harith Iskander has voiced his frustration over the queue system at a National Registration Department branch.

In a video posted on his Instagram on Monday (March 16), Harith questioned why people were still made to wait, with some folk not even able to get a queue number ticket, after hours of waiting.

He said he arrived 30 minutes before the counter to get tickets opened at 2pm but was shocked to find a long line.

"I got to the first floor where the administrative office is... a staff told us to wait downstairs.

"When we got back upstairs, there were no more tickets," he said.

"Maybe the first 40 or 50 person got it, then the remaining 200 people that have waited could not and people got angry.

"Some waited since morning, some took leave from work to come.

"Why is still normal and being normalised?" he asked.

Harith said there should be a system that would be more convenient and not tiring for the people.

"It's 2026 now, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is going to take over jobs at these department.

"If a department is meant to service the people, can these services be not so tiring for the people?

"When all of us, including the people and system maker, feel that people's time is precious, I think that's the most important thing," he added.
