Police can watch over vacant houses

IPOH: Those who plan to leave their homes vacant during the Hari Raya festive period should inform the police by filling in the balik kampung form manually or through the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) app, says Comm Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin.

The Perak police chief said that this would allow the police to conduct more frequent patrols and monitoring of houses left vacant during the festive season.

“The safety of road users as well as the security of premises or homes left unattended is indeed the responsibility of the police and we will ensure they remain safe throughout the festive period,” he told reporters after a handover ceremony involving district police OCPDs and the state narcotics chief yesterday.

Comm Noor Hisam also reminded road users to remain vigilant when travelling to their hometowns as traffic volume is expected to increase during the festive period.

“I would like to advise road users to remain patient while driving, be considerate towards other road users and always abide by traffic laws.”

He also urged motorists to stay updated on traffic conditions through official channels.
