An ungazetted road next to Kuchai Business Park will be sealed off by Kuala Lumpur City Hall on Friday to put an end to rampant illegal dumping and haphazard parking.

The unnamed stretch, currently an exit connecting the commercial hub to Jalan 1/127, has become a public eyesore as bulk waste piles up alongside 15 vehicles, some of which are abandoned.

Seputeh MP Teresa Kok said stakeholders had complained about the unhygienic conditions and abandoned vehicles.

“My team met with DBKL, Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp) and Alam Flora Sdn Bhd on Nov 6 last year and decided to close the road.

“This will prevent vehicles from being parked there.

“The rubbish dumped here has also begun to affect businesses nearby,” she said during a site visit.

Kok also urged the Kuchai Business Park management to instal closed-circuit TV (CCTV) cameras to deter litterbugs.

Building management company BS Management administration executive Suzy Chong said the problem had persisted for nine months.

“We have lodged formal complaints with SWCorp.

“While they do clear the rubbish, the problem always returns.

“Our tenants are complaining about a foul stench and rat infestations.

“Some visitors also park along this road to avoid paying indoor parking charges,” Chong said, adding that she would discuss the CCTV suggestion with her manager.

An SWCorp representative said rubbish had been cleared from the site twice last year and the company conducted several enforcement operations.

“During one operation, we caught a pickup truck from a nearby furniture shop disposing their rubbish on the road.

“We issued a notice under Section 75 of the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act 2007 (Act 672), ordering the owner to clear the mess.

“Foreigners living in surrounding apartments also throw food waste at the site. We have warned them against doing so,” he said.

A DBKL spokesperson said that during the Nov 6 visit, City Hall issued 19 notices to car owners to remove their vehicles.

“Now, only six cars remain. We will issue a second notice and if they are not moved, they will be towed away.”
