Flood conditions ease in Sabah northern districts, 86 evacuees remain in shelters

KOTA KINABALU: Floods in Sabah’s northern districts have eased with most relief centres closed as weather conditions improve.

All evacuees from the worst-hit Kota Marudu district have returned to their homes with the closure of relief centres.

Only 86 people from 30 villages remained at relief centres in the neighbouring Paitan district, according to the state disaster management secretariat as of 4pm Thursday (Mar 12).

Meanwhile, after being evacuated due to a landslip in Sandakan, 11 people from six families remain in a relief centre.
