SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan's new investments surged to RM19.1bil in 2025, nearly triple the RM7.1bil recorded the previous year, says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
The Mentri Besar said the performance propelled the state to sixth place nationally in investment rankings, up from ninth in 2024.
"I am proud to say that this is a record for Negri Sembilan as the highest ever investments received before this was RM10.1bil in 2023.
"These investments in 295 projects are expected to create 3,845 new jobs as well as help uplift the economic well-being of the local community," he told reporters after chairing the state exco meeting at Wisma Negri.
Negri Sembilan had targeted to secure RM10bil in new investments for 2025.
The top five states in terms of new investments were Johor, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kedah.
Aminuddin said domestic direct investments accounted for 77% of the total amount, with a significant RM10bil earmarked by a single company for the development of a new data centre.
He said the services sector received 72% or RM13.8bil of the new investments, followed by the manufacturing sector with 28%.
The top services sub-sectors were information and communications, property, utilities and support services.
In the manufacturing sectors, it was chemical, electric and electronics, petroleum, metal fabrication and food processing.
Aminuddin said China was the largest foreign investor with RM2.2bil, followed by the Netherlands (RM800mil), Taiwan (RM540mil), Japan (RM280mil) and Singapore (RM190mil).
Among the projects approved by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) were those from Hunan Yuneng New Energy Battery Material, ON Semiconductor (M) Sdn Bhd, IN WIN Asia Sdn Bhd, T. Hasegawa Flavours and the new data centre by Nexus Yang Sdn Bhd.
Aminuddin said 2026 was going to be a challenging year mainly due to the conflict in the Middle East.
"We certainly hope to do better but our minimum target is RM10bil in new investments for this year," he added.
