PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Armed Forces will renew a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the MACC Intelligence Division and the Malaysian Defence Intelligence Organisation (MDIO) to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two agencies.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the matter was among those discussed during a meeting with Armed Forces Chief Leftenan Jeneral Datuk Malek Razak Sulaiman at the MACC headquarters here on Monday (March 9).
He said the meeting also touched on the implementation of governance in procurement management, tenders and quotations over a six-month period.
“This initiative is seen as a strategic approach to ensure that every process is carried out transparently, with accountability and in compliance with government financial regulations and governance.
“MACC has agreed to work with the MAF in terms of integrity management training and enhancing the armed forces’ anti-corruption strategies,” he said.
The meeting was held in conjunction with Jen Malek Razak’s appointment as the 24th chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces, which took effect on Feb 1.
Both sides also discussed efforts to strengthen cooperation in media management and enhance communication mechanisms to support anti-corruption efforts within the national defence ecosystem.
They also exchanged views on several technical matters and potential areas of bilateral cooperation to improve service delivery efficiency while strengthening the culture of integrity within the country’s defence institutions.
