Chief Secretary announces transfers, appointments involving top civil service posts

PUTRAJAYA: The Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar has announced several transfers and new appointments involving top management positions in the civil service, effective next Monday (March 9), Sinar Harian reports.

In a statement Friday (March 6), he said Customs director-general Datuk Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin has been appointed secretary-general at the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry.

The post of Customs director-general will be filled by Datuk Amran Haji Ahmad, who previously served as deputy secretary-general at the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.

Shamsul Azri also said that Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad will be transferred from the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry to the Health Ministry, retaining his position as secretary-general.

the secretary-general post at the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry will be taken over by Datuk Dr K. Nagulendran, who previously served at the Youth and Sports Ministry.

Meanwhile, Perlis State Secretary, Datuk Rahimi Ismail, will fill the vacancy left by Nagulendran while the Health Ministry’s human resources division secretary, Datuk Noor Azman Abdul Rahman, will replace Rahimi in Perlis.

Shamsul Azri said the changes reflected the demands of reform, which required exceptional speed and agility in strengthening the public service.

He said the public sector had to continue to raise standards of transparency and integrity to create an administration that was more competitive and relevant to the times.

“Guided by the principle of #taatsetia, each of these appointments carries a major trust to strengthen co-operation between agencies and to demonstrate unwavering loyalty to the King and the nation in realising the Malaysia Madani vision,” he said.
