Malaysia’s Consulate-General in Dubai working with airlines to increase flights home

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s Consulate-General in Dubai is coordinating with airlines to increase flight frequency to Malaysia following disruptions that left many stranded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Consulate-General of Malaysia in Dubai said some limited flights have resumed, with priority given to affected passengers.

“The consulate is coordinating with airlines to increase the frequency of flights to Malaysia,” it said in a statement on Wednesday (March 4).

Passengers who remain stranded have been advised to contact their respective airlines to obtain the latest flight status.

The consulate said it was closely monitoring the situation in Dubai and the northern emirates following recent regional tensions.

It said based on information from local authorities, security conditions in Dubai remain stable and daily activities continue as usual.

Despite announcements that hotel accommodation costs for stranded passengers would be borne by local authorities, several Malaysians reported that some hotels were still charging them for extended stays.

Hence, the consulate advised Malaysians to confirm payment arrangements directly with their hotels and airlines.

Those in Dubai and the northern emirates have also been urged to remain vigilant, follow official announcements from UAE authorities and the consulate, and make appropriate plans should they need to extend their stay, including considering alternative accommodation options.

For consular assistance or emergencies, Malaysians may contact the Consulate-General of Malaysia in Dubai via +971 4398 5843 or +971 50 737 9196, or email dxb.cons@kln.gov.my or mwdubai@kln.gov.my
