Cops nab eight for fighting inside Meru police station

SHAH ALAM: Police have arrested eight local men involved in a fight at the Meru police station in Klang.

Selangor Police Chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the incident on March 2 involved a commotion inside the police station compound, believed to have stemmed from a dispute over a security area.

“As of now, eight male citizens have been arrested in connection with the incident, involving three separate rounds of arrests,” he said during a press conference at the Selangor police contingent headquarters (IPK) here on Thursday (March 5).

The first arrest involved five suspects, aged between 28 and 41, who were remanded for three days from March 3 to March 5, with an application to extend the remand granted until March 6.

“One of the suspects is also wanted and listed under Section 3(1) of the Prevention of Crime Act 1959,” he said.

“Preliminary urine screening found one suspect positive for benzodiazepine, while the others tested negative,” he added.
