High employability for technocrat tahfiz graduates, says Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR: Professional and technocrat tahfiz graduates will be highly employable as there is strong demand from the engineering sector, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Deputy Prime Minister, who is also National TVET committee chairman, said this was based on current industry demand, which requires about 60,000 engineers annually, while the country is only able to produce around 6,000 graduates per year.

He said this when officiating the Gen Huffaz Teknokrat Mara 2026 assembly at the Federal Territories Mosque here on Sunday (March 1).

"…their employability is indeed 100%. Industry demand is extremely high and we are working closely with multinational corporations," he said.

The programme is implemented through educational institutions under Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) as well as technical universities, including Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) and the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN).

Ahmad Zahid said the approach of integrating tahfiz education with technical disciplines not only strengthens value-based human capital but also meets the nation's strategic needs in high-technology sectors.

The government has set a target of producing 125,000 professional and technocrat tahfiz graduates by 2050, with plans to expand the programme nationwide through seven MTUN universities.

"With continuous monitoring and strong industry support, the target is expected to be achieved ahead of schedule, further enhancing the competitiveness of at both national and global levels," he said.
