Desa Palma IED case accused dies at Hospital Kuala Lumpur

SEREMBAN: The accused in the Desa Palma improvised explosive device (IED) case died on Friday (Feb 27) night at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

Nilai police chief, Supt Johari Yahya, said 63-year-old Yeoh Hock Sun’s death was reported at 8.30pm by officers escorting him from Kajang Prison.

"The cause of death at 8.18pm was refractory shock, a condition in which the patient did not respond despite receiving optimal standard treatment,” he said in a statement.

Earlier reports stated that police had arrested a man after a suspected IED was found following a public report of an explosion and scattered nails in the Desa Palma residential area at 7.08am on Dec 22 last year.

The senior citizen had pleaded not guilty to five charges after being formally charged at Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar in January while undergoing treatment, before being transferred to Hospital Kuala Lumpur due to a critical condition. – Bernama
