PETALING JAYA: Police are searching for a suspect who impersonated an aide-de-camp (ADC) to the Raja Muda of Selangor to deceive the public over the sale and purchase of houses and vehicles.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar said they received a report from the security office of the Sultan of Selangor at Istana Mestika on Thursday (Oct 15) over the misuse of the Raja Muda's photograph.
He said a report was lodged at 9.53am against the owner of the Threads account dwan_hamid, for using a photograph and impersonating the royal aide.
"An investigation paper has been opened under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, while efforts to track down the suspect are ongoing," he said in a statement on Monday (Oct 19).
Comm Shazeli said the investigation followed a statement issued by the Selangor palace office in Klang on Sunday (Oct 18).
Police advised the public to remain vigilant and verify information through official channels before making any financial transactions to avoid falling victim to scams.
