Two killed in Jasin head-on collision

JASIN: Two people were killed in a head-on collision involving two cars on Jalan Serkam-Bemban, near Jasin, on Thursday evening (Feb 26).

Jasin District Police chief Supt Lee Robert said the victims were a 33-year-old man, who was driving a sedan, and a 74-year-old woman, a passenger in another sedan.

"We received a report of the fatal crash at about 6.50pm. The first sedan was travelling from Bemban towards Serkam, while the second sedan, driven by a 44-year-old man, was heading in the opposite direction. The second sedan was also carrying the driver's elderly mother and his 40-year-old brother," he said in a statement on Friday (Feb 27).

He said preliminary investigations indicate that the first sedan skidded into the opposite lane upon reaching the scene, leaving the second sedan driver unable to avoid the collision.

"The first sedan driver suffered internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The second sedan driver sustained injuries to his arm and body, while his brother suffered chest injuries.

"The elderly woman was rushed to Hospital Jasin and treated in the red zone before being pronounced dead at about 9.30pm," he added. – Bernama
