KUANTAN: The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and Tunku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, have advised the public to take precautionary measures against health risks posed by the ongoing hot weather and haze.
Their Royal Highnesses advised the public to drink sufficient water, reduce strenuous physical activities in open areas, especially during the hottest periods, wear light and loose clothing and rest in shaded or cool areas.
"The public is also advised to be alert to the early signs of heat-related issues such as headaches, dizziness, nausea, muscle cramps, extreme fatigue and confusion, as well as to seek immediate medical treatment if the condition becomes serious," Their Royal Highnesses said in a post on the Pahang Sultanate's Facebook page.
The advice was issued following the death of a Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) student, the late Fadhlan Fakhry Solana Mohd Fellimal, 21, while participating in the Komander Kesatria Endurance Challenge (KKEC) at the UiTM Jengka Campus in Maran.
Eight other students were also rushed to hospital for medical treatment in the incident.
In the same post, Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased and hoped they would be granted strength and perseverance in facing the loss of their loved one.
Their Royal Highnesses also prayed for a speedy recovery for the students still receiving treatment and that their affairs would be eased. — Bernama
