PETALING JAYA: Investigation into the death of a 19-year-old female student will be fully left to the police, says the Polytechnic and Community College Education Department (JPPKK).

The department said the authorities are currently probing the incident where Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (Polisas) student M. Elisa Jonova’s body was found at a house on Jalan Air Putih 2 in Kuantan in the early hours of Tuesday (Oct 6) morning.

JPPKK expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and said together with Polisas, the department would continue to provide attention, support and assistance required by the late student’s family.

The public is urged against speculating or spreading false information about the matter, said the department in a Sinar Harian report on Wednesday (Oct 7).

Earlier, Kuantan OCPD Asst Comm Ashari Abu Samah said the woman's boyfriend placed an emergency call regarding the incident at 4.32am.

A police team dispatched to the location found the victim lying on a bed in a rented room on the ground floor of the house.

Preliminary examination by forensic specialists from Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan, Kuantan found pressure marks on the victim's neck.

The victim’s 19-year-old boyfriend was detained at the scene to assist investigations.
