Number of flood victims in Sabah rises to 6,663


KOTA KINABALU: The number of flood victims in Sabah increased to 6,663 people from 2,331 families as of 8pm on Friday (Feb 27), compared to 6,655 people from 2,326 families at 4pm.

The Sabah State Disaster Management Committee secretariat said in a statement that Beaufort had the highest number of evacuees, with 1,548 people from 545 families, compared to 1,529 people from 535 families earlier.

There was no change in the number of victims in Tenom (4,345 people, 1,467 families) and Membakut (441 people, 173 families), while the number of evacuees in Sipitang dropped to 329 people from 146 families, compared to 340 people from 151 families earlier.

All the victims are placed at 31 temporary relief centres opened since Wednesday (Feb 25) in the four districts, with a total of 177 villages affected by floods. - Bernama
