Multiple attackers slash man in broad daylight


GEORGE TOWN: A 33-year-old man was severely injured after being slashed multiple times outside a commercial building here.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rozak Muhammad said they were informed of the incident at 8am yesterday.

“We received a call that a man was slashed outside a commercial building along Jalan Kelawai here.

“Early investigations at the scene of the incident found that the man, a local, was severely injured due to slashes sustained from an attack by a group of men believed to be locals as well.

“The suspects turned up outside the lobby area of the commercial building on motorcycles before slashing the man,” he said in a statement.

ACP Abdul Rozak said the victim has been sent to Penang Hospital for treatment.

“The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous harm using a dangerous weapon.

“We are actively tracking the suspects responsible in this case,” he said.

He urged members of the ­public who have information to contact investigating officer Muhammad Muhaimin Muthar at 014-342 1292.

A video went viral of a man being attacked outside a commercial building, showing two assailants slashing a man repeatedly while two others waited on motorcycles.

The men dressed in black then fled the scene while the victim was seated on the ground covered in blood, with slashes visible on his head and arms.
