Man with mental heath issues attacks grandmother with hammer in Dungun

DUNGUN: A man suffering from mental health issues has attacked his 79-year-old grandmother with a hammer in Kampung Kuala Abang here.

Dungun OCPD Supt Nik Ab Halim Nik Mat said the woman was trying to prevent her 25-year-old grandson who lives with her, from leaving the house, which led to an argument on Friday (June 19).

"The suspect shoved the victim before hitting her with a hammer, causing severe head injuries," he said in a statement on Saturday (June 20).

The victim was rushed to Dungun Hospital for further treatment and is in stable condition.
