KUALA LUMPUR: The current Cabinet line-up has met its Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets and has carried out its responsibilities with integrity, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister also stressed that the government will not compromise on any integrity breaches.
“We believe that accountability is not just about punishing but correcting, continuous improvements and a moral responsibility to the rakyat.
“A high-performance and integrity-filled culture must continuously be strengthened to ensure each ministry truly functions effectively, efficiently and trustworthy,” he said in a written reply dated Wednesday (Feb 25).
Anwar stressed the Madani administration's unwavering commitment towards accountability especially among Cabinet ministers in line with the Federal Constitution, collective responsibility and individual responsibility towards the Parliament and the Rakyat.
These principles, he said, are reflected through various approaches including how each ministry is required to set clear and measurable KPIs that are aligned with the Malaysia Madani policy as well as the 12th Malaysia Plan.
“These achievements too are periodically evaluated by various agencies including the Performance Improvement Coordination Unit (PACU),” he said.
He added that the government is also strengthening the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Plan as well as empowering the National Audit Department and the Special Cabinet Committee on Anti-Corruption.
Anwar was responding to Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim (PN-Arau) who asked on the matter.
Shahidan asked about the Prime Minister's commitment towards accountability among Cabinet members and if failure to perform will be followed by stern action, including resignation from Cabinet posts in line with good governance practices and accountability towards Parliament and the rakyat,.
